Artist Statement
My approach to photography is shaped by years as a photojournalist. Truthful with respect for the integrity of the subject. Recognizing the moment in a fraction of a second when the disparate parts come together forming an image that communicates maximum potential.
Today my work is more personal my subjects more to my choosing, my technique more varied. Exploring qualities in my subjects that go beyond surface characteristics…a more studied approach.
What interests me most is what lies in front or behind the plane of focus and how the layers of light, color and form play off each other and the frame that contains them.
