We know that Art is a powerful tool for communication, education, enrichment and development for students of all ages and skill levels. Through our partnerships, Silvermine deepens and broadens its relevance to the community.
Our Educational Community Programs extend beyond the Silvermine campus to bring transformative programs that inspire creativity, build community, promote education, and offer enjoyment.
Art Partners programs offer curriculum based studio art classes to targeted urban schools in Norwalk, Bridgeport and Stamford. In collaboration with classroom teachers and program directors, our Teaching Artists create effective, transformative educational experiences for under-resourced students.
In partnership with STAR, Inc., Silvermine launched the “ArtAcademy” program to benefit adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, tapping into the transformative power of art by engaging them in a variety of art classes in an inclusive setting on Silvermine’s campus.
In 2019, Silvermine Arts Center established a new International Fulbright residency program, initiated and funded by artist and philanthropist Janet Hennessey Dilenschneider and her husband Robert Dilenschneider, and managed by the Institute of Inter- national Education® (IIE). The IIE supports flagship exchange pro- grams, including Fulbright, “to make the world a more interconnected place.”
